The Audacity of the Irredeemably Stupid

I keep hearing a lot about this Deepwater Horizon kerfuffle. At first I thought it was a follow up to that space movie with Sam Neil. Apparently not. Instead of space demons, there are tens of thousands of barrels of oil are pouring into the gulf each day. With no end in sight, a legion of engineers, specialists and volunteers are working on ways to stop the spill and mitigate the damage done to the ocean and the surrounding ecosystems.

Meanwhile, in Cantfindmyasswithbothhandsastan, two shining voices of leadership boom out across the horizon and offer insight to those who continue to worry.

Robert Adley:

“All of us are well aware of the problems we have faced across the Gulf Region since the tragic explosion and sinking of the BP Deepwater Horizon oil rig off the coast of Louisiana. Thus far the efforts made by mortals to try to solve the crisis have been to no avail. It is clearly time for a miracle for us.”

Sarah Palin:

“Gulf disaster needs divine intervention as man’s efforts have been futile. Gulf lawmakers designate today Day of Prayer for solution/miracle”

I guess the mantra is now “Drill. Spill. Pray, baby, pray!*”

(* Easily confused with Palin’s stance on birth control.)

Changing of the Guard

It’s been a while since I updated this blog properly. About a year ago, I transitioned over to a piece of software that aggregated my “content” from around the web into a lifestream located on this site. The process was entirely automated and worked great. It did, however, leave a little to be desired with regard to straight up blogging.  Now I’ve come full circle and reinstalled WordPress. I’m really impressed with how much WordPress has matured in a year. The back-end is much improved (it was great before). At a glance, there are a lot of great looking themes available — I’m using Thematic at the moment.

The old content is still available. It’s located at http://lifestream.pareddown.com. It will continue to aggregate my posts on digg, flickr, and twitter. If you’re coming here via a search engine and can’t find what you’re looking for, hit the lifestream link and search there.

As far as this blog goes, I’m planning to be more diligent with my updating. There are a few things brewing like music suggestions and behind the scenes stuff on my Left 4 Dead campaign development. Stay tuned.
